Head of Puppets - The Lion King UK & Ireland Tour
Disney is recruiting for a Head of Puppets for The Lion King UK & Ireland Tour. Role requires leading a team in the upkeep and maintenance of over 250 puppets.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Take lead responsibility of the upkeep and maintenance of over 250 puppets in line with the artistic requirements of the Production
- Keep department stocked with all the equipment and sundries required for it to function; and, delegate tasks to and project manage the team
- Resolve issues as they arise, and liaise with vendors when repairs and replacements are required
- Fit masks and puppets used in the show to individual cast members (training of unique techniques will be provided)
- Manage department schedule, training and holidays and ensure adequate level of show cover
- Liaise with the Company Manager, resident creative team, technical heads of department, stage management, the acting company and theatre staff to ensure the efficient flow of information as necessary for the smooth running of the show
- Plan and implement logistics required for tour moves of the department
- Carry out maintenance and show calls as required
- Work with wider network of other Lion King Puppets head of departments from productions around the world to ensure consistency and maintenance of high standards
- Comply with current health and safety policies, referring to risk assessments, safe systems of work and industry guidance where appropriate, undertake appropriate training
- Weekend and evening work integral - Tuesday to Sunday performance tour schedule
Skills
- The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a wide and varied understanding of tools and different fabrication techniques
- Experience of working on a large scale musical production desired
- Clear, confident communication and decision making essential
- Ability to remain focused and calm when under pressure
- Excellent relationship and interpersonal skills with cast, creative and production team essential
