Children’s Chaperone - The Greatest Showman UK

Step into the spotlight and join the magic behind the curtain!

We’re seeking experienced, compassionate, and professional Chaperones to join the team of the upcoming production of The Greatest Showman. This full-time role is central to supporting the safety, welfare, and wellbeing of our young performers both on and off stage.

This role will require evening and weekend availability in line with the production schedule. The position is offered on a fixed-term basis, subject to the Producer’s right to give two weeks’ notice to close the production. Chaperones can come from anywhere commutable to London, Leeds, Manchester, Chichester or Bristol (due to the locations of the children who will be travelled weekly).

To be eligible for this position, applicants must hold

  • A valid chaperone licence.
  • A current DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
  • Proven experience working with children, with a strong understanding of safeguarding, duty of care, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Two recent references from relevant professional and/or educational settings.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Providing care and supervision at the level a responsible parent would, ensuring children feel safe and supported at all times.
  • Ensuring the health, safety, welfare, and education of every child in your care.
  • Creating a nurturing, inclusive, and discrimination-free environment.
  • Following all Health & Safety and Safeguarding policies as outlined by the Producer and General Management.
  • Complying with all local authority licensing and inspection requirements.
  • Reporting and documenting any concerns or incidents to Children’s General Management (Keston & Keston), DTG and Company Management as required.
  • Keeping accurate records of any illness, injury, or accident, and ensuring parents and (if necessary) local authorities are informed.
  • Assisting the company across all activities, including rehearsals, performances, maintenance calls, get-ins, fit-ups, get-outs, including emergency scenarios.
  • Being familiar with understudy and swing performances and adapting as needed.
  • Providing coverage for colleagues during holidays, absences, or other needs.
  • Handling petty cash as directed by General Management, with timely reconciliation of receipts.
