Sound No.3 Assistant - The Greatest Showman UK

Step into the spotlight and join the magic behind the curtain!

We are seeking a passionate and motivated individual to join the Sound department for Disney’s The Greatest Showman on a fixed-term basis.

As an Sound No.3 Assistant, you’ll report to the Head and Deputy Head of Sound and local crew. Your focus will be on supporting the safe operation, maintenance, and smooth running of sound equipment and systems during rehearsals and performances.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist the Head and Deputy Head of Sound by liaising with the Company Manager, Technical departments, Creative Team, Production and General Management Teams, and local venue staff to ensure the smooth operation of all rehearsals and performances.
  • Assist the Head and Deputy Head of Automation with any day-to-day changes that might impact the running of the Production.
  • Carry out daily setup and oversee sound rig checks, maintaining clear communication within the Sound team.
  • Ensure awareness of understudy and swing performances ahead of each show and make necessary adjustments.
  • Attend rehearsal, technical, dress and understudy rehearsals as required.
  • Maintain and repair repairing aspects of the sound system, including radio frequencies, microphones, the orchestra pit, and comms as instructed and dictated by the artistic requirements and under the direction of the Head and Deputy Head Of Sound, Production Manager and Resident Creative Team.
  • Ensure that radio mics are in working order for each performance and to fit and change mic packs as required.
  • Report and provide timely feedback on show and staff-related issues.
  • Develop familiarity with all plots and tracks within the Sound department.
  • Work in full compliance with Disney’s Health and Safety Policy and maintain knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices
  • Liaise closely with Disney’s Health and Safety Manager to ensure that the Health And Safety Policy is followed.
  • Work closely and in conjunction with the Company Manager.

Skills

  • Knowledge of setting up, maintaining, and operating sound systems.
  • Comfortable with working at height as part of daily responsibilities.
  • Transparent and open approach, able to work well under pressure, and enjoy leading from the front and by example.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster positive working relationships across departments.
  • Excellent initiative and practical problem-solving skills, particularly in high-pressure backstage situations.
  • Able to handle issues that arise during performances with focus, professionalism, and composure.
  • Clear and confident communicator, with the ability to make informed decisions and collaborate effectively with cast, creative, and production teams.
  • Solid understanding of health and safety legislation relevant to the role, including LOLER, PUWER, and Working at Height regulations.
