Teaching Artist
Disney Theatrical Productions (DTP) is seeking to expand a pool of professional musical theatre artists and educators to facilitate a series of content-based education workshops for The Lion King and Hercules and the Disney Musicals in Schools Programme in London primary schools from September 25 to March 26.
Candidates should be equal parts artist and educator and have a passion for engaging others in the artistry and life lessons of theatre-making.
This is a part-time, freelance position, and work fluctuates based on season (usually term time) and Facilitator availability.
Facilitator responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Teaching 90 minute musical theatre workshops in pairs for visiting education groups from the UK and around the world. These take place in central London, in schools with an hour's travel of London.
- Participate in ongoing professional development with the Facilitator ensemble(three half day sessions a year – paid).
- Facilitate professional development workshops for classroom teachers and school administrators.
- There are also ad hoc opportunities to take part in promotional and educational events.
- Lead Disney Musicals in Schools residencies in London Primary Schools, one 90minute session per week Sept to March plus planning time.
Required:
- Demonstrates skills and professional experiences in musical theatre, including: choreography, directing, performance and music direction.
- Experience of working as a Drama, Dance or Musical Theatre Facilitator.
- Experience working with diverse populations and a range of ages.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Willingness to travel to schools across London.
- Excellent collaborative skills; willing and able to team-teach with fellow Facilitators.
- Strong time-management skills and dedication to established work commitments.
- Ability to work weekday (particularly on matinee days Wed and Thurs).
Preferred:
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
- Recognised qualification in Theatre, Education, Educational Theatre, Applied Theatre or related field.
- Experience working with Special Education populations.
- Experience working with English Language Learners.

Workshop: We will hold a practical workshop in late May where you will meet the current team, find out about the work we do and how we team teach. Please be prepared to run a drama game, teach a short piece of choreography or musical number.
Training: In the workshop content and Disney Musicals in Schools will be provided by The Disney Theatrical team, 15th – 18th July 2025.
Work to start September 2025.
